The history of Earth Day and how you can help

Earth Day was founded by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, who wanted to create a day that was dedicated to teaching and learning about environmental issues and making sustainable decisions to help these environmental issues.


His efforts lead to the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970.

There are so many ways you can help the Earth Day, buy changing just a few of your routines. Conserving water by taking shorter showers or turning of the water while brushing your teeth. Although it seems like such a small thing, according to the Glen Canyon Institute, you could save 5 gallons of water by turning off the water while brushing.
