JUST IN: Tornado confirmed in Forest County from July 27, 2023

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay has released findings from a detailed survey outlining the impact of an EF-0 tornado that hit Hiles on July 27, 2023. The tornado, with peak winds of 76 mph, traveled 1.68 miles, causing no fatalities or injuries.


The survey, aided by aerial drones, confirmed the tornado's path and intensity. Forest County Emergency Management orchestrated the survey, which indicated an EF-0 classification on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.


The NWS's preliminary statement serves as a valuable resource for emergency responders and researchers. Finalized data will be published in NWS Storm Data, contributing to better preparedness for future weather events.
