UPDATE: Severe weather threat over

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

7:15 PM UPDATE - The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Brown, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marathon, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago, and Wood counties until 1AM. With any severe storm, expect wind gusts up to 70 MPH and large hail up to 1.5" in diameter.

3:25 PM UPDATE - There was no change in the latest update from the Storm Prediction Center. Much of the area remains under a Level 2/5 (Slight) risk. There is now a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect western Wisconsin and storms are beginning to pop up.

The Storm Prediction Center has posted a Level 2/5 severe risk for areas along, east-southeast and northwest of Highway 29 (see below). The storms that passed through this morning has left a boundary in place across the area, which may fire off a few storms, some of which could be strong to severe at times. The greatest threats will be damaging wind, hail, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.

With all that being said, I'm extremely skeptical. Models are showing very little activity tonight, so if anything does develop, the models will have been significantly wrong. This doesn't mean you should let your guard down. I will keep you updated throughout the day today and keep an eye on the models to see if they change at all. In the mean time, it is just going to be a waiting game for the rest of the day.
