Good morning! After record-breaking heat, we're going to be cooling off today with a chance of scattered afternoon storms. Satellite imagery from 8:40 this morning showed light clouds moving to the northeast. These clouds should clear from west to east by midday.
We'll be pretty dry which will bring a heightened fire risk today. Make sure you check with your local DNR before doing any burning. A cold front that will pass through the late afternoon/early evening will fire off some scattered thunderstorms, overcoming the dry air. Any storms do have the potential to produce small hail and gusty winds up to 40MPH.
Tonight, clearing skies and diminishing winds will allow for a cool night.
