WEDNESDAY: Strong storms possible with smoky skies

Good morning! There's a line of showers out in western Wisconsin that's moving its way eastward. Some models show it holding together and moving into our area, but I'm skeptical, especially since they're already starting to break up and weaken.

High temperatures today will be very similar to yesterday - in the mid-upper 70s and low 80s away from the Lake Michigan shoreline.

There has been a little improvement with the smoke. Areas across the Northwoods are now sitting in the "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" category, but throughout the day, I expect more smoky air to push in from the south, which will probably put us in the "Unhealthy" category again.

TONIGHT AND OVERNIGHT:

Late tonight, a surge of unstable air will move into the area, well to the west of Green Bay and the Fox Valley. This will bring the potential for strong to potentially severe thunderstorms at times. The far western portion of our area is under a Level 2 (Slight) risk for severe weather, while most of the remainder of the area is under a Level 1 (Marginal) risk. These storms will have the potential to bring damaging wind, quarter-size hail, and though unlikely, a possible spin-up tornado. Here's a look at the severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center:
